Orlando holidays - any tips

I am planning a family holiday to Orlando for October 2016 and doing the research. Must admit that this is not my ideal choice of holiday but feel the time will be right for the kids (3 of them between 9 and 13) and I want them to have this experience. Looking to pack as much in as possible into the 2 weeks and would appreciate any tips from those who have been. Any must dos or some don'ts?

I'm off to Orlando in August next year for 2 weeks with the mrs and her family

Don't forget about the Condo/suite hotels that are plentiful out there. Two or three bedroom suite with living area and kitchen, with the benefits of a hotel. Usually have 2 or 3 TVs too which is good when you want a bit of a break from the kids.
Try Floridays, The Blue Heron, Sheraton Vistana for starters.

Bluto's Bilge Rats?? Fucking drenched.... don't do it late and then go and sit in a air conditioned restaurant (Bubba Gumps) like we did after...

Johnny ... I have been chatting with some friends who have been and unless cost was not an issue, the hotels on site could prove expensive and a bit short of space for a family of 5. Recommendation is for the villa option .... Ideally with pool.

Loads of useful advice all ready on here......especially agree with the `have a day out...have a day in` bit.
A day in doesn`t have to mean not going out.....just not hitting the parks quite so hard.
And my restaurant recommendation would be Bahama Breeze.....love it!

They chop and change them about.... normally do a 40 min session and then go and have fun with their flipper MATES for a few hours.... think there are over 30 there when we was last there

Been looking myself... And the biggest choice for me seems to be whether you go for resort hotels with the benefits of on site etc or rent a villa in a nice location and pool for rest days...... Must say I still don't know what is best !!! Ps.... Johnny . Assume you are taking advantage of 2 weeks half term in Autumn and it appears the weather works on your favour. The other choice for me is whether 2 weeks is enough.

Thanks everyone who has posted their ideas and happy memories ... Will help me and the Mrs plan how best to entertain the 3 angels! Some really us fun stuff here and thanks for taking the time for some detailed reviews. Cheers guys..... I am more keen myself now although never doubted the kids would enjoy!

On the subject of Discovery Cove, have your session with the Dolphins in the morning before the get knackered in the afternoon!

we did Discovery Cove the last time we were there. It was great, but cost around £600 for the 4 of us for 1 day, although you do get lunch and unlimited drinks for that. We had a massive lightning storm about 4 o clock and all got evacuated out of the water due to ground strikes. It is limited to 1000 guests per day.

Snatch.... brilliant place... the snorkelling with those big fuck off Southern Sting rays is something else... I also had a pink spoonbill bird fall in love with me... must of had this thing on my shoulder, lap or head for about 20 mins in the lagoon...

Check out Discovery Cove (swimming with dolphins). It's pricey, and numbers are limited (book early) but it's a great memory to have.

Northern - was that economy class flights? Seems massively overepriced if so. Looking at trip May next year, just been to BA website £400 per person and change for direct returns in cattle class.
